Writing Samples [Hexed Private] Father wrote me again today about my plans once I finish taking my N.E.W.T exams. I don't know how else I can explain to him that I'm going to take the exam for entrance into the Department of Magical Law Enforcement so that he'll finally understand. I'm not sure what he wants me to do but I know it isn't a Ministry job. I'm really looking forward to it, though. It's not that I don't like being at home but...I don't like being at home. It only gets worse the older I get, father's stories about things he wished he'd done differently and mother's not so subtle hints about my love life, are ever increasing and ever increasingly tedious. There's something decidedly wrong about your mother wanting to know about those particular aspects of her son's life but I'm sure everyone has to go through that.
Cici and Sirena are lucky, mother and father will never make quandaries like that about them. They don't have to look for husbands, husbands have to come to them - although I'm not sure how that's going to happen if I have anything to say about it.. I can't imagine there's anyone out there good enough for either of them, at least no one that I can think of off the top of my head. [/Hexed Private]
It's Hogsmeade weekend soon and I'm definitely going. I have absolutely no reason to go into the village but it certainly beats wasting another afternoon in the Slytherin common room falling asleep by the fire only to be woken up by the whole house returning, shouting, and full of energy like a heard of rampaging mountain trolls. Does anyone have any recommendations of places to go or things to see?
One of the benefits to focusing on his studies over chasing skirts and sneaking off into wayward broom closets while at Hogwarts, Scorpius had realized, was the amount of trust it had earned him with the staff and especially the head of Slytherin House. He was sure that without it he would never have been given a pass to the Restricted section in the library so easily, especially someone with the same background that he had. After all, giving someone from a family who had a history of producing dark wizards a go ahead nod to a part of the library filled with black magic books wasn't generally considered a good idea.
Scorpius realized, of course, that such a pass would be safe in his hands. He had no desire to become the next Tom Marvolo Riddle even if that particular level of infamy was a little enticing. That his professors seemed to realize the same was definitely a flattering boost to his ego. He liked the Restricted Section for entirely different reasons. Contained within, he knew, were books that few witches and wizards would ever be able to get their hands on, let alone read, and the amount of knowledge contained within was staggering.
He'd taken a particularly interesting tome back to the Slytherin common room. He knew that that was against the rules but the library had been closing and he wasn't quite finished yet so he'd tucked it away in his robes and managed to make it out of the library without being detected. He couldn't say the same for the Hufflepuff that had been trying to leave the same time he had when his stolen book had set off alarms.
Now he had it all to himself, a whole book of spells that no one in their right mind would ever even attempt to preform. He didn't usually like books that much, but there was something deliciously dark and naughty about this one that he couldn't resist. He cracked the cover, smelling the musty scent of the old pages and hooked his knees over the arm of his chair settling back against the other for a nice, long read.
